Youth Panel J@P

National Youth Panel in Latvia was set up May 2009 and now has become a significant part of Net-Safe Latvia Safer Internet Centre. Members of the Youth Panel  (YP) are active, energetic, communicative and vey enthusiastic young people representing all regions of Latvia. For the year 2011 there are nine 13-17 years old youngsters as part of the panel.

YP members have voted for the name J@P to be given to the panel and have designed a logo.

Every year YP has 2-3 face-to-face and 2-3 online meetings.

Tasks of the Youth Panel:

  • consult and inform about latest tendencies on the Internet and with modern technologies, also share information about their positive and negative experience on the Internet
  • evaluate existing internet safety materials that are provided for children and youth and give advices what kind of materials are more relevant for them
  • suggest activities, how to increase awareness about e-safety issues
  • involve their peers in the Internet safety activities
  • participate actively in SID celebrations and European level activities

Youth Panel helps:

  • to educate children and youth  about safety on the internet more effectively
  • to organize events for their peers
  • to develop new materials;
  • to prepare information for project web page section "Children and Youth"
  • to increase quality of project researches
  • to create "Interneta safety" group on the social networking sites
